Thanks to all those who helped out at Seksualiti Merdeka:
Sisters in Islam, Kata Gender, TheOtherMalaysia, Pink Triangle Foundation, et al.
Thanks also to individuals:
Ikram, Amir Muhammad and Nia Dinita for giving permission to screen their films - was a very entertaining night. And people were surprised that a short film as good as Comolot by Ikram could cause the lecturer to be fired from the National Arts Academy, on the pretext that he allowed his student to make a gay film.
Shanon Shah, Sulastree for organising the forum on violence against transexuals, YB Sivarasa Rasiah (MP for Subang), Dr Wan Halim Othman, Dr Teh, Nisha and Shanon for being on that panel -- this discussion became rather political with views shared on how citizens can activate for better policies.
Benjamin McKay, Wong Yuen Mei and Sharon Bong for the forum Probing Sexualities - much enlightenment on little heard struggles in negotiating sexual identities in Malaysia, from the church to the mall.
Anj Ho, and who gave us the Psychology of Homophobia, and broke down our different prejudices.
Jit Murad, Dara Othman, Juelie Koh & Alex Au for their courage, honesty and candour during the Heartbreakers Anonymous storytelling session. You guys are an inspiration to all!
Farish Noor for the entertaning lecture on the history of sexuality in South East Asia, and motivating us to claim that sexual diversity is not a western import but a Buatan Malaysia.
Jac SM Kee, Juelie Koh, Angela Kuga Thas, for the interactive workshop Tongues Out, with support from Bernice Chauly, Yati, Rafidah Abdullah, Chung Han Yang, Low Sean Khiam, and Katagender, which made everybody walk around the room and voice themselves openly.
To Vernon Kedit Jolly for offering us Malaysian Idol's Nikki, and to Nikki for such a lovely song and such ballsy vocal support for her gay fans and friends. Also to Rafidah Abdullah of 3R, Fahmi Fadzil, Shanon Shah, Bernice Chauly, Ahmad Yazid, Munkao, who joined us at Malaysian Artists for Diversity to come out as supporters of diversity.
Nicholas Chin for helping to design the Seksualiti Merdeka mural.
To Shahril Nizam for designing the poster, and Norman Teh for the Madonna poster.
Also to Sylvia Tan, Choo Lip Sin, and the whole Fridae.com gang for coverage, publicity and lots of support.
To our volunteers: Andrew Chan, Marcus Voon, Sharifah Anum, Chung Han Yang, Low Sean Khiam, Hafidz Baharom, Clayton Koh, Thilaga, Hazri Haili, Ethan Lim, Yeo Kien Kiong, Lainie. Thanks for carrying all those chairs, for painting the wall, putting up posters, ushering audiences,
To all the press who came.
Thanks to all who came and asked very cool questions and gave such great comments.
